TAULIGNAN

The town (from the thirteenth to the fifteenth centuries) at the base of the castle (destroyed in 1793) was protected by the fortifications that still mark the medieval site.  Eleven of the fourteen towers that protected the walls have been preserved, as well as the northern entrance gate (called the door of the Eel) which is flanked by two towers linked by a gallery with machicolation.

There are a number of Renaissance facades and houses from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in the village.

To see: The ancient common house (with temporary exhibits)
The church of Saint Vincent
The Workshop/Museum of Silk
The Protestant church in the form of a rotunda ((1868)
The romanesque chapel of Saint Marcel (twelfth century).
